4. Click here

5. Click "on"

Read and select the 4 check boxes. You will need a few things to be considered compliant for SMS. Anything that is not completed will delay your ability to use SMS. The first is to saying you have your EIN number. If you don't, there is a link to get one for free from the IRS.

6. Fill "on"

The second is saying you will need the exact name and address used when you filed for your EIN. This is how the phone carriers can verify your business exists. If you don't have accurate info, this can cause your application to be rejected and you can be billed again for applying.

7. Click "on"

The third checkbox is saying you have the URL of where your contacts are opting in to receive SMS messages. This page will need a form with a check box that the contact checks to agree to SMS. We provided some sample text in italics if your form does not have a checkbox.

8. Click "on"

The last checkbox states you need a terms of service and privacy policy page. We recommend doing a search for a privacy policy generator and terms of service generator. Once you have the text, you should create a page for each. Then have a link to that page on the same page as the opt in form. We know this is a little work to do all this, however this is what is required from the cell phone carriers to protect their customers. It is designed to reduce spam and those who do this are rewarded with the ability to use SMS.

9. Click "Continue"

Click on the "Continue" button.

10. Choose A Use Case

The Default is Mixed. The mixed use case compliance fee is $10 a month. The Mixed allows you to send more than 6000 SMS segments a day and is recommended for people with customer lists they wish to message all at once in the same day. Alternatively, many small businesses are okay selecting the "LOW_VOLUME" option. This use case is only $1.50 per month and is limited to less than 6000 SMS segments a day.

For example "Our customers go to www.mywebsite.com and put in their information and check a box to opt in to SMS messages. After they opt in, they will receive a confirmation message with instructions on how to opt out." This is one of the main reasons get rejected.
